For over 30 years, PHOTO L.A. has celebrated and brought together the fine art photography community from around the world to Los Angeles. It is with this mission that we present FOCUS PHOTO L.A., a biannual competition and event open to help provide emerging and mid-career artists/photographers a platform to promote their selected work and expand their career opportunities within the PHOTO L.A. network.

FOCUS PHOTO L.A. Finalists are determined by a panel of renowned art + photography experts who will select the Top 20 photographers from the completed submissions. All finalists will have his or her winning photograph professionally printed by our partners The Icon and expertly framed to be exhibited in California during the FOCUS photo l.a. exhibition event February 13- 16 2025 produced & presented by photo l.a.

NOW IN 2024 ~ One (1) Grand Prize Winner will be selected from the Top 20 Finalists and receive a $1000 cash award!

Artists + Photographers can submit ten (10) images per entry during the open period. Submissions are open to ALL Artists + Photographers working in all themes, types, and genres of photography. No original prints will be exhibited.

COMPETITION OPENS: June 14, 2024
COMPETITION CLOSES: November 24, 2024 MIDNIGHT PST

To enter, simply Register here. Upload a MAXIMUM of ten (10) images, pay the Registration Fee of $50 (for one week only June 14 - 20, 2024). Thereafter the Registration Fee of $60 USD), and submit them to the competition

UPLOAD INSTRUCTIONS:
- JPG images only!
- Images must be less than 3mb in file size.
- Please rename files before uploading to not contain any SPECIAL CHARACTERS (" ' @ / | : < > *)
- Photos must be resized with the long-dimension of 2400 pixels or less, 72 DPI before being uploaded
(*PLEASE NOTE: a high resolution file will be requested and sent separately if you become a Finalist).

Once you have provided the nominal entry fee for a MAXIMUM of ten (10) images per entry, your images will officially be entered into the current competition and you will receive a confirmation email.

*PLEASE NOTE: When selected, FINALISTS will need to provide a print-ready file ~
- JPEG or .TIFF file format
- 24" on the longest side
- 300 dpi
- All layers flattened
- 8-bit RGB mode
- Embedded profile "Adobe RGB 1998" suggested

IMPORTANT FAQs -

Q: Who owns the rights to the images I submit?

A: You do. The artist/photographer retains all rights to submitted images.

PHOTO L.A. may only use digital images of Finalists' works submitted to the organization for marketing, promoting, and executing FOCUS Photo L.A. only.

No original works will be accepted for exhibition!

Photo L.A. use of Finalists' digital images is non-exclusive and will never sell the framed exhibited work without a prior written mutual contract.
